Water demand is expected to exceed supply in South Africa by 17% in 2030, according to a report released on the eve of World Water Day by the World Wildlife Fund (WWF), in partnership with the Boston Consulting Group (BCG).
Christine Colvin, Senior Manager, Fresh Water Unit at WWF says the City of Cape Town was quick and efficient to communicate and implement water restrictions in handling the water crisis.

Colvin said the need to bring in new technologies for more water-efficient irrigation and industrial processes to reduce demand from the big users is important. She says water conservation is necessary along the whole water value chain.
