Scarcity of pilot opportunities inspires 'Hire a pilot' campaign

The campaign was founded by pilots whose studies were funded by the department of higher education and training.

Rene-Peter Masoen, Co-founder, Hire A Pilot campaign says newly qualified pilots need to obtain minimum hour requirements by physically flying aircraft's and accumulating flying hours. The industry requirement is 1500 hours. Masoen adds that this can be an expensive exercise therefore making it even harder to break into the aviation industry.

He says airlines and role players in the aviation industry need to absorb these newly qualified pilots to create job opportunities.
