We remember Ahmed Kathrada's emotional goodbye to Madiba

An emotional Ahmed Kathrada gave an emotional last goodbye to his friend, former President Nelson Mandela, after his passing on December 5, 2013.

Kathrada often referred to Walter Sisulu as his father and Mandela, his brother.

Kathrada's moving farewell gripped the nation with his raw emotion and sense of loss. He fondly shared memories of his friend, Mandela.

Kathrada passed away on Tuesday aged 87 after contracting pneumonia after surgery to remove a blood clot to this brain.
