LISTEN: Nhlanhla Nene hopes President clarifies reason for Gordhan instruction

Former Finance Minister Nhlanhla Nene says the Presidency may have a compelling reason for ordering Finance Minister Pravin Gordhan and his deputy Mcebisi Jonas to cancel a roadshow to the United Kingdom and United States to promote South Africa as an investment destination.

In a one line statement that provided no further reasons, President Jacob Zuma ordered Gordhan and Jonas to come back home.

Nene says the purpose of the roadshows is to sell South Africa to investors as a destination for investment.

There will be questions asked when you have lined up appointments and interviews with important investors, there will be that level of uncertainty. I trust that whatever the reasons are will be clarified so that investors continue to be inspired to invest in South Africa.
