Reba Chemicals delivers speedy service using local products

Enter your business in the Nedbank Business Accelerator Campaign with 702 today.

Author Terry Pratchett pointed out that ‘life is just chemicals’, and never was a truer word spoken about Freddy Motau and his company.

Reba Chemicals was formed as a way of providing locally manufactured chemicals to companies, with a view to saving them both time and shipping costs, when compared to imported products.

We manufacture and supply industrial, water-treatment, mining and metal-treatment chemicals, which I learned how to do at a previous employer, where I was the chemist that had to unpack and develop their imported chemicals.

Freddy Motau, Reba Chemicals

There is high demand for phosphates, cleaners, and degreasers in a range of industries, and by producing these locally, we are able to deliver cost-effective solutions to these sectors.

Freddy Motau, Reba Chemicals

He adds that Reba remains a quality-driven company and meets customer needs by constantly developing and introducing new ranges of products to the market.

His goal is to double in size and staff compliment by 2019.

A big part of this plan revolves around promoting the business in countries like Zimbabwe, Tanzania, Botswana and Swaziland, as well as other countries in sub-Saharan Africa. He hopes to expand these areas by opening new branches and building warehouses.

If we were to grow the business to this level, we would need funding to assist us firstly in growing our existing product range, by adding products like nickel acetate, nickel sulphate, nickel carbonate and nickel chloride. Then also finance to build the plant needed to enable us to manufacture this new range.”
