Lawson Naidoo, executive secretary for the Council for the Advancement of the South African Constitution (Casac) says it shocking that the President has asked Finance Minister Pravin Gordhan and his deputy Mcebisi Jonas to return from the international investor roadshow.
On Monday, the Presidency ordered the Finance Minister and his entourage to cancel the scheduled trip and return home without providing an explanation.
Naidoo says the trip was a much needed one to try and get the economy of South Africa back on track and start creating jobs that the country desperately needs.

Speculation is rife that President Jacob Zuma is preparing to move against Gordhan with a possible Cabinet reshuffle.
I think that would be a sad day for South Africa because those are capable and credible leaders and have done an outstanding amount of work at treasury.— Lawson Naidoo, Council for the Advancement of SA Constitution
