Mixed reactions to Motlanthe's eulogy at Ahmed Kathrada's funeral

Former president, Kgalema Motlanthe has received both praised and criticism from the public when he read a quote from a letter Ahmed Kathrada's wrote, asking President Jacob Zuma to resign last year.

“It would be disingenuous to pay tribute to the life of comrade Ahmed Kathrada and pretend that he was not deeply disturbed by the current post-apartheid failure of politics.” read Motlanthe.

Motlhanthe received a standing ovation from the crowds at the funeral.
