Nuclear procurement right thing to do for SA - New Nuclear Watch chair

Eskom has told the Nuclear Africa conference that a request for proposals for new nuclear power plants (NPPs) could be issued by the middle of this year.

Former United Kingdowm (UK) MP and chairperson of New Nuclear Watch, Tim Yeo, says investing in nuclear would also increase job opportunities in South Africa.

The workforce is capable of being educated to the level of which it could work on nuclear supply chain work, and in the construction phase there is extra jobs as well.

A further advantage for choosing nuclear would be the opportunity to develop some supply chain companies here in South Africa which might have export potential and create jobs as other African countries decide to get nuclear.
