The Fearless Mother

2 April is World Autism day.

The Fearless Mother is a book narrated and written by Christinah Maragelo.

In the book, Christina shares her journey of being a parent to an autistic child.

At first, she was in denial about having an autistic child and says her book is meant to inspire and encourage mothers to stand tall against their troubles and tribulations.

The book outlines challenges Christina faced and the principle strategies she used to overcome them.

The Fearless Mother demonstrates suggested techniques that will inspire parents of autistic children to not give up and see life with a different eye.

Listeners also phoned in to share their experiences of raising an autistic child.

Autism is everywhere it doesn't have colour.

Maragelo says she also taken the initiative to raise awareness about dealing with autistic children in social spaces.

Unlike your guest, I went into fix it mode, I wanted to fix everything.

Early diagnosis and intervention is key.

Maragelo says she wants her readers to know that there is a promise of a better day when you have faith.

These are some tips Maragelo shares towards gaining acceptance and overcoming the challenges of raising an autistic and special child:

Accept the situation without allowing it to pull you down.

Don’t ask why does this have to happen to me?

Know the power is vested inside of you from the one above.

Let your reasons of living pull you forward.

Fall with your back in order to rise up looking up.

Listen to how Christina overcame her fears in the clip below:
