President knows ANC not happy with #CabinetReshuffle - Mantashe

31 March 2017 8:21 AM

ANC secretary general, Gwede Mantashe, says President Zuma aware of unhappiness in the ranks at Cabinet changes.

African National Congress (ANC) secretary general, Gwede Mantashe, says President Jacob Zuma went ahead with his decision to axe Finance Minister Pravin Gordhan and his deputy Mcebisi Jonas despite unhappiness from the national executive committee (NEC).

There was a discussion on Monday, but (this) was more on the area of the finance minister. When we went there it was clear to us that he was going to be reshuffled. The rest of the reshuffling, I can describe it as being informed, not consulted.

Mantashe says the President only gave the ruling party a list of other Cabinet ministers to be reshuffled last night.

I felt like this list has been developed somewhere else, it (was) given to us to legitimise it.
