#SASSA That's it ConCourt closes. Dlamini misses deadline. GN— EWN Reporter (@ewnreporter) March 31, 2017
Social Development Minister Bathabile Dlamini has missed a deadline to file an affidavit to the Constitutional Court explaining why she shouldn't be held personally liable for the South African Social Security Agency (Sassa) payment debacle.
She was due to file the papers on Friday afternoon at 15:30.
The court ordered Dlamini to explain her conduct and why she shouldn’t pay the costs for the grants payment issue which affected more than 17 million beneficiaries.
Eyewitness News reporters Gia Nicolaides was outside the Constitutional Court.
I did speak to one of the officials there, they said that for filing affidavits and filing court papers they close at 3:30 but they remained open until after 4, and at 4:15 they said now they are officially closed. They didn’t receive any papers.— Gia Nicolaides, EWN reporter
