LISTEN: The moment of great renewal is upon South Africa - Ramaphosa

An audio has emerged on social media in which Deputy President Cyril Ramophosa was speaking in KZN.

He says the moment of great renewal is upon South Africa in light of the events that are unfolding.

South Africans must remain hopeful.

Cyril Ramaphosa, Deputy President

The events that are unfolding now are not events that should make us scared, they are not events that should make us afraid of the future...

Cyril Ramaphosa, Deputy President

The ANC is expected to hold its National Working Committee for the first time since the President reshuffled his Cabinet, after firing Finance Minister Pravin Gordhan, his deputy Mcebisi Jonas and a number of other ministers and deputies.

EWN Reporter Clement Manyathela says there is no doubt that Cabinet reshuffle will be on top of the agenda at this meeting.

What we know already is that the top six is divided. Three of those members have come out and have expressed their unhappiness about President Jacob Zuma.

Clement Manyathela, EWN reporter

According to Manyathela, Jessie Duarte, Deputy Secretary General of the ANC, said that there's a need to rally behind the President and support the new ministers while Baleka Mbete appears to be chastising the three who criticised the President's decision.

It will be interesting to how those disagreements will play themselves out at the meeting.

Independent political analyst, David Monyae, says the ANC is undergoing the most trying times in terms of the need to renew itself.

The manner in which it manages all these differences has a huge implication on the country
