The retired ANC MP says efforts to lobby MPs to vote for a motion of no confidence will not work. as MPs have too much to lose.

Retired African National Congress (ANC) MP Ben Turok says the only time the party's trajectory will begin to change is when people vote against it during elections.

Turok spoke to Azania Mosaka about a current motion of no confidence tabled by the Democratic Alliance, as well as efforts to lobby members of the ruling party to vote with them.

Turok says MPs would have too much to lose and that it is unlikely that they will vote in favor of the motion.

We have had so many special sittings on the same subject and we lose every time. Or at least the ANC wins every time and it's going to win again this time.

Ben Turok,Retired African National Congress MP

I think the EFF and the DA are really smoking something because they will never get the ANC MPs to break until the masses outside vote and that's what matters.

Ben Turok,Retired African National Congress MP

Most ANC MPs have no career, most have not much education and if they leave Parliament they are looking for unemployment, so you know you are asking people to make quite a big sacrifice.
