Cosatu, ANC Top 6 locked in meetings to discuss recalling Zuma

The Congress of South African Trade Unions' (Cosatu) special central executive committee is currently locked in a meeting to discuss whether to call on President Jacob Zuma to step down.

The meeting comes after the Cabinet reshuffle announced at midnight on Thursday, which saw 20 changes in the Cabinet.

It's still not clear what the federation will decide as it has previously criticised its unions for calling on Zuma to step down.

Another African National Congress (ANC) alliance partner, South African Communist Party (SACP) has already called on the President to step down.

Meanwhile, the ANC’s top six leaders are also in a meeting at Luthuli House and will meet with the national working committee members.

ANC secretary general, Gwede Mantashe, Treasury Zweli Mkhize and Deputy President Cyril Ramaphosa have already said they are against the firing of Pravin Gordhan and his deputy Mcebisi Jonas from the Finance Ministry.
