Mashaba claims Hawks head deliberately stalling corruption cases

Joburg Mayor Herman Mashaba says it's unacceptable that Hawks head, Berning Ntlemeza, wants corruption cases referred to his office and not investigated by the City.

Mashaba alleges that Ntlemeza wants to stall corruption cases brought by the City of Joburg.

Ever since I took over this administration (I have been) immediately inundated with corruption cases which we expected the national and provincial governments to cooperate with us, and I started seeing some signs that gave me some discomfort.

Herman Mashaba, City of Joburg Mayor

I have been reliably told, and based on many cases sitting from last year I have every confidence to believe that.

Herman Mashaba, City of Joburg Mayor

Mashaba says he is happy to be challenged under oath if it is not true that Ntlemeza gave the order.

I have reached the stage that if I don't get any satisfaction in this matter, I will lay charges with Ipid because I take this as defeating the ends of justice.

Herman Mashaba, City of Joburg Mayor
