DA leader, Mmusi Maimane says the march planned for Friday 7 April is going to be a peaceful march. He has spoken to the National Police Commissioner and informed him that the marchers will be needing protection.
The DA has issued a statement that the route has been changed and that the march will not be going to Luthuli House but to Mary Fitzgerald Square in downtown Johannesburg.
This follows threats by the ANC that they will protect Luthuli house.
We are not fighting, we are not going to Luthuli house. As people of South Africa, we are simply saying we are losing confidence in the President.
— Mmusi Maimane, Leader of the DA
If Parliament fails, it is up to all of us as people of South Africa to take action.
— Mmusi Maimane, Leader of the DA
Maimane says initially they were marching to Luthuli House because what is happening currently in South Africa "has everything to do with the ANC".
This requires all of to take a stand and say one man, which is Jacob Zuma, cannot hold us hostage.
— Mmusi Maimane, Leader of the DA
