An initiative aims to inspire children to dream bigger than before - to literally reach for the stars.
The One School at a Time (OSAAT) initiative by ad agency Joe Public has organised for the pupils of Forte High School in Dobsonville Soweto to be tuned in to a radio broadcast where Russian Cosmonaut, Gennady Padalka - who is currently orbiting the earth - addresses them from the International Space Station. The broadcast from space to address South African pupils is the first initiative of its kind and magnitude – a giant leap to improve our education system:
Here is Padalka and his team out in space:
Project Space aims to inspire learners such as those from Forte High to go into space. OSAAT contacted Space Adventures who helped make the connection with Padalka.
So Padalka recorded the message all the way from 400 kilometres above Earth to the learners in Dobsonville, who now look to the skies for their inspiration.
