7 April 2017 12:45 PM

South Africans are demonstrating across the country calling for President Jacob Zuma to resign as the president of South Africa.

Thousands of South Africans have started making their way to the Union Buildings in Pretoria united in one voice calling for President Jacob Zuma to step down.

EWN reporter, Barry Bateman, says the crowd left Church Square at 11:40 on Friday morning.

Save South Africa members having been camping in Church Square since President Jacob Zuma announced Cabinet reshuffle.

Civil society, opposition parties, and even some African National Congress (ANC) senior leaders heavily criticised the President for axing Finance Minister Pravin Gordhan and his deputy Mcebisi Jonas last week.

For the first time, both ANC alliance partners, the South African Communist Party (SACP) and Congress of South African Trade Unions (Cosatu) want the President to step down.
