DA says family lawyer confirmed Guptas own armoured military vehicle

The Democratic Alliance (DA) will write to Minister in the Presidency and chairperson of the National Conventional Arms Control Committee (NCACC), Jeff Radebe, to seek confirmation on whether or not the Gupta family have permission to own the armoured military vehicle.

According to reports the vehicle is currently stationed at the Gupta family's Saxonwold compund.

The opposition political party says Gupta family lawyer, Gert van der Merwe, has confirmed that the armoured vehicle belongs to the Gupta family and it is being used for “safety purposes”.

It is illegal for private citizens to own military vehicles.
