MPs voting according to party instructions is outdated - Zac Yacoob

Thousands of people, including opposition parties marched to the Union Buildings to demand the resignation of President Jacob Zuma in what has been dubbed the 'National Day of Action'.

Retired Constitutional Court Judge, Zak Yacoob has called on President Zuma to step down.

Well, I hope that the President will take it seriously, I hope that he will listen and I hope that he will step down because to have a man like him as a President for the country is no good for the country.

So one would hope that the country will come first and that his private interests will come second.

Yacoob says the idea of a person voting according to the instructions of a political party is outdated and in conflict with the Constitution. He adds that the Constitution requires every member of Parliament to uphold the constitution.
