Helen Zille's DA membership could be terminated if found guilty - columnist
The Democratic Alliance has charged Western Cape Premier Helen Zille for allegedly violating the party’s federal constitution by acting in a manner which brought the party into disrepute.
Business Day columnist, Gareth van Onselen, says the DA could fine Zille or terminate her DA membership if found guilty.
Zille received backlash from the public and other DA leaders last month when she tweeted that colonialism was not only negative.
If they terminate her membership it means she will removed as premier of the Western Cape. But there will be a significant backlash from the people who support her. It will cost the DA some capital.Gareth van Onselen, Business Day columnist
