"Zuma's comments about white people and stress is a legacy of racism"

Clinical psychologist, Zamo Mbele, says President Jacob Zuma's comments that stress is only felt by white people could perpetuate perceptions and stigma around mental health.

The President made these comments in front of hundreds of African National Congress (ANC) members during his birthday celebration in Soweto on Wednesday.

Mbele says the President's comments could mislead people about the causes of depression and stress, which has nothing to do with race.
