Court date set for Zambian opposition leader Hakainde Hichilema hearing

Zambian opposition leader Hakainde Hichilema’s court hearing is scheduled to take place on Tuesday.

Hichilema was arrested on treason charges for allegedly refusing to give way to President Edgar Lungu's motorcade on a main road in the west of the country last week.

He has since been denied access to lawyers.

Crystal Orderson shares details on this and other stories.

Today he supposed to have a hearing to actually determine whether his detention has been legal.

President Edgar Lunga also came out to tell his supporters that he doesn't have the power to intervene in this case

We also know that the opposition leader and the president have not been the best of friends, so this is a power play taking place.
