"Gigaba will hustle as finance ministers need to do"

Finance Minister, Malusi Gigaba has gone on an international road show to the United States of America, in a bid to restore confidence in South Africa.

Hilary Joffe, Editor-at-Large of Business Day says Minister Gigaba has a tough job ahead of him.

We do have to see what he's going to do.

Joffe says despite his reputation in previous portfolios, Gigaba is a personable, smart and will hustle as finance ministers need to do.

Joffe adds that there are two problems at hand.

At the moment investors are hearing what they want to hear, they want to hear a good story about South Africa because emerging markets are in vogue, we're offering nice yields in our bonds. It's something which is very attractive. What till that tide goes out.

The other problem is whether he can indeed deliver what he is promising.
