Travel industry professionals congregate at the The World Travel Market Africa

The World Travel Market Africa (WTMA) is taking place at the Cape Town International Convention Centre (CTICC) from Wednesday, 19 to Friday, 21 April 2017.

The World Travel Market Africa is a networking opportunity to discover the latest travel trends and products of the travel industry.

Inge Dykman, Head of Leisure Tourism says the travel professionals attending the market were focused on discussing lucrative markets for travel and business.

The focus of the buyers is to maintain the existing markets which is definitely our UK, Germany and Netherlands. And then attracting the newer lucrative markets such as the Nordics and the Middle East.

Inge Dykman, Head of Leisure Tourism

Dykman adds that safety and security, specifically for the Nordic markets are a major concern. She says most had perceived South Africa as a "wild experience".

And then coming here and saying it's the most beautiful place in the world. They felt safe, they felt that Cape Town can definitely compete with the top city destinations globally such as Paris, New York and London.

Inge Dykman, Head of Leisure Tourism

We're actually quite a safe destination. We really offer the world in one country and that's what they're looking for.

Inge Dykman, Head of Leisure Tourism

Dykman says she's pleased that South Africa is back on everybody's top three radars of promotion globally.
