Primedia Broadcasting received a number of nods at the Liberty Radio Awards across a range of platforms and categories.
A double winner on the night was the Coca-Cola Top40SA chart show with Rob Vember, which is simulcast across 947 and KFM. It was named Best Weekend show and Best Music show.
The Money Show with Bruce Whitfield was another show that came out tops, in the Business and Finance category.
Our personalities also scored with Ryan O’Connor of KFM Breakfast taking top honours in the critical Best Breakfast Presenter category.
Tara Penny who reads for EWN on 702 in the afternoons was named Best Newsreader and one of the team’s newer staff members, Katleho Segoto won Best Newsreader in the campus section, for her work at VOW FM – Voice of Wits.
Another exciting win for EWN, which shows the depth and range of storytelling expertise which our news team has was in the Best Radio Documentary category. EWN’s podcast series, _Throughthe Cracks, the untold story of Mbuyisa Makhubu _came out tops.
The 947 BreakfastXpress team were acknowledged in the best Community Project category for their stirring fundraiser to get Baby Calum to Boston.
And in the best Promotion/Stunt/Activation category – the Huawei KDay Bus, an activation that travelled the Cape Peninsula to promote the launch of KDay, was named joint winner.
The awards also paid tribute to 702’s John Robbie through their Lifetime Achievement Award.
From activations to multiplatform content, client campaigns, radio shows, personalities and initiatives that care, the winners gave a taste of what excellence in radio and content can look like.
