Caller berates black staff, says employers not obliged to provide transport

Social media has responded to berating comments made by a Radio 702 caller.

Calling into Eusebius McKaiser's show Vuyelwa shared her view on complaints around the lack of late night transport provisions for employees at Virgin Active.

She said employers are not obliged to provide transport.

"They are demanding too much, the darkies from the employers, if you are not happy with the working hours, go and find a 8 to 5 job. Darkies like things for mahala."

Vuyelwa, 702 caller

Her comments sparked a debate on the show and social media about poverty and ignorance to the lengths people have to go to daily, at all hours of the day and night, to access public transport in SA.

Another caller, Willie, responded with much disappointment.

I am listening to a lady who has a very strong Xhosa accent from the Eastern Cape that she could not escape from and she comes with the words that she has uttered.... I don't know how to describe them. U' Vuyelwa maybe sisi you had a blessing, born with a silver spoon, I am sure even your most nearest relatives who are down on the bottom you look down upon them.
