Obama talks youth leadership in first public appearance since vacating office

Former United States President Barrack Obama has told students about his experiences as a community organiser in Chicago.

Obama says his focus will be helping prepare the next generation of leaders.

The former president was talking to students at the University of Chicago where his presidential library is planned to be built.

EWN correspondent, Nadia Neophytou, says Obama also listened to students fears about where the country is heading and the role of civil society.

Neophytou says Obama did not talk about President Donald Trump leadership or respond to Trump's criticisms of his leadership.
