UDM leader Bantu Holomisa says that his party is not a member of the newly formed Freedom Movement.
Instead, Holomisa explains that the UDM has been partaking in various campaigns calling for the removal of President Jacob Zuma, including the Save SA rally.
We are not members. UDM is not a member of the movement.— Bantu Holomisa, UDM leader
UDM is independent.— Bantu Holomisa, UDM leader
That movement is a civil society initiative... I will participate in initiatives calling on Zuma to leave.— Bantu Holomisa, UDM leader
Supporters of the Freedom Movement joined an anti-Zuma march led by opposition parties, religious fraternities, students, academics and civil society groups on Freedom Day.
Holomisa attributed the poor turnout at the Freedom Movement's rally on Thursday to the public holiday, geographic limitations and reluctance from other political parties to spend more on logistical resources.
The EFF and other political parties made it clear that the had exhausted a lot of resources on other marches... We are not going to bus people form North West, Limpopo or Free State to Joburg.— Bantu Holomisa, UDM leader
