Music streaming is the way to go (the CD is dying) - music blogger

Simon Hodgson is a blogger at Love Music SA. He spoke to Stephen Grootes about music streaming and how it has made great strides in the music industry.

Hodgson says the whole landscape of the music industry is changing for the better through streaming.

According to reports, revenue from music streaming in South Africa has increased by 334.2% over the past year.

The fact of the matter is the CD is dying and most CD stores are just no longer there and its not a model that is sustainable anymore.

Streaming is certainly the way to go.

Hodgson says most people are happy to pay the fee as it allows them to access much more music rather than buying albums.

As to how much artists are making from music streaming, Hodgson says it is unfortunate that selling music is not the best way to bring in the money and artists need to find different way to earn money.
