Chair of Justice Project South Africa, Howard Dembovsky, has made clear a new law that will take effect on May 11, which is an amendment to Regulation 250 of the National Road Traffic Act. The new amendment says that no one will allowed to transport school children on the back of a bakkie for reward.
It seems many have not understood what the regulation entails misinterpreting it to not allowing people to be transported at the back of a bakkie.
But Dembovsky says that the new regulation will actually allow adults to be transported on the back of a bakkie for reward, provided that the owner applies for a permit to do so.
