CapeTalk's Kieno Kammies chats to owner of Bettel Watches Stuart Swan.
After spending three months in Indonesia exploring business ideas with no success, Stuart and his wife decided to travel back to South Africa. On their way back, he picked up an in-flight magazine and saw a wooden watch that caught his attention.
Four years later, Stuart and his wife Makeeda are proud owners of Bettel watches, a business that designs and sells wooden watches at the V&A Waterfront.
We sell 90% of our watches to people from overseas so every time I spend money I am contributing to the South African economy.— Stuart Swan, owner of Bettel
Bettel watches mix high high-quality stainless steel, carbon fibre, natural wood and bamboo into an accessory that is suitable for any occasion.
