Hawks: NPA came up with 'coup-plotter' charges
New acting Hawks head Yolisa Matakata made her first appearance before police portfolio committee in Parliament on Thursday.
EWN parliamentary correspondent Gaye Davis says MPs across the board asked Matakata how the charges against accused Elvis Ramosebudi's came to be watered down from conspiracy to commit murder to incitement to commit murder.
Ramosebudi was alleged to have solicited millions from companies to fund a conspiracy to assassinate a number of ministers and other notable South Africans involved in so-called state capture or white monopoly capitalism.
Matakata responded that it is the NPA that decides on charges and not the Hawks.

Davis says the MPs were very skeptical.
