Farmer pulls gun on journalist amid violent Coligny eruptions

Violence appears to have erupted in the North West town of Coligny where two white men accused of killing sixteen year black teenage, Matlhomola Moshoeu have been granted bail.

Pieter Doorewaard and Philip Schutte are accused of throwing Moshoeu off a moving van after accusing him of stealing sunflowers.

Since that decision has been made, havoc has erupted once again in the small town of Coligny.

Kekana says one of the farmers allegedly had their house burned down by protesting community members.

The farmer was quite upset and yelled at some of the journalists, in fact, he pulled a gun out on a couple of them and beat up two photojournalists.

Farmers are distancing themselves from the incident, saying they are not involved in the murder of Moshoeu and therefore shouldn't be intimidated by protesters, reports Kekana.

The magistrate's reasons for granting the two accused bail is due to them having no prior convictions, believing they are upstanding members of the community and because he fears them losing their jobs.

He also said the investigation has not been concluded.

At this point in time there isn't enough evidence to oppose bail.
