Finetown residents earlier barricaded the road leading into the township as well as the Golden Highway in an effort to block traffic, Lindeque explains.

Police fired stun grenades and rubber bullets while demonstrators pelted police with stones.

Protests began in Eldorado Park on Monday and the spilled over to Ennerdale, Klipspruit and Orange Farm on Tuesday.

The residents want politicians to deliver on the promises of housing.

They are saying they want land and want houses, and they want it now.

Representatives from Gauteng Premier David Makhura's office told the community that they would gather information and convene a meeting with other officials.
