African Utility Week to focus on water and electricity issues on the continent

The 17th annual African Utility Week power and energy conference kicks off in Cape Town next week with a jam packed programme.

Some of the topics on the agenda include power and energy issues such as revenue cycle management and metering, water generation, transmission and distribution, and the energy revolution Africa.

Side events such as Nuclear Power Africa, African power finance and investment, gas to power and an Africa utilities technology council can also be expected.

Kieno Kammies spoke to director Evan Scheff about some of the homegrown energy and water solutions presented at the conference and how these can assist in the context of South Africa and the benefits of greener energy.

We have launched the energy revolution Africa product so that is a conference running alongside African Utility week, and what that looks at is micro grids. So a solar panel on the roof, with a battery, what that essentially means is the more of those, the less coal fired or massive power stations you need to build....
