What it takes to be among the top most attractive workplaces in SA

Global research and branding firm Universum has released the most top-ranked employers in South Africa.

The survey, South Africa's Most Attractive Employers, reveals trends about perceptions around top local companies, explains Universum SA manager Jenali Skuse.

The companies are divided into the following categories for students and professionals, respectively:

  • business/commerce;
  • humanities/ liberal arts/education;
  • law;
  • natural sciences;
  • healthcare/health sciences; and
  • engineering/technology.

Skuse says the firm surveyed nearly 47 000 students and 23 000 professionals about their career goals, perceptions and who they think the most attractive employers are.

She explains that the criteria for most the most attractive companies included job characteristics, remuneration, work culture, reputation and image.

According to Skuse, professional training and development, as well as leadership and support are the most important factors when determining if a company is attractive.

She shared some useful insights and trends about what prospective employees look for when job-hunting.

Companies have the opportunities to shift those perception by putting information out there.
