Brian Molefe holding the minister and Eskom to ransom - Chris Yelland

EE Publishing and energy expert Chris Yelland spoke to John Maytham and expressed his shock at the reappointment of Brian Molefe to the position of Eskom CEO.

How can it be that the board offers him R30 million...as a pension fund payout.

Chris Yelland, EE Publisher

It was apparently not a resignation, but an early retirement.

Taking Molefe back so as not to pay out the R30 million is not good governance, says Yelland. It is holding the board and the minister and Eskom to ransom. he adds.

Take a listen to Chris Yelland's view:

Labour lawyer Michael Bagraim says he almost fell off his chair when he heard Molefe was returning to Eskom. Molefe is only 50 years old and had been in the fund for 18 months and Bagraim says this does not allow one that kind of payout.
