'Mandla died in a similar way to his father'

Tributes for former Generations actor and Jozi FM DJ, Mandla Hlantshwayo, continue to pour in after he was shot dead by robbers in Soweto on Sunday.

Jozi FM CEO, Mpho Mhlongo, says Hlatshwayo died on the scene outside a pub in Pimville where he had a meeting with the owner.

Ladies at the pub were leaving and these guys came and were about to rob them. They screamed. And Mandla being the Mandla we know, then jumped to the assistance of the ladies.

When he confronted the guys, they shot him, and shot the guy behind him.

Mhlongo says Hlantshwayo would always jump to assist others.

He says Hlantshwayo's father was also shot to death after being robbed of his cellphone when Hlantshwayo was still young.

So to umama that thing comes back again, that it was my husband now it's my son dying through barrel of a gun.
