ANC MPs to vote against Zuma if ConCourt grants secret ballot- reports

16 May 2017 8:30 AM
The Star reports that more than 50 ANC MPs would vote against President Zuma in the no-confidence motion if it secret.

As the Constitutional Court is set to decide on whether Members of Parliament vote by secret ballot in the motion of no confidence against President Jacob Zuma, reports suggest that ANC Members of Parliament (MPs) would vote against the President if the secret ballot is allowed.

The Star newspaper quotes an anonymous source saying more 50 ANC MPs would vote against Zuma.

National Assembly Speaker Baleka Mbete has postponed the no-confidence motion against the President pending a legal challenge over the secret ballot.

Read: "Secret ballot certainly 'permitted', and in current context it is 'required"

The Speaker and Presidency are opposing the application by the United Democratic Movement (UDM) for members to be allowed to vote in secret ballot.

President Jacob Zuma is in very serious trouble inside his party.
