The Independent Police Investigative Directorate (Ipid) says there has been two incidents of death threats against lead investigator and complainant in the ongoing investigation into acting National Police Commissioner Khomotso Phahlane.
Ipid head of investigations, Matthew Sesoko, says they had a presentation before Parliament’s Police Oversight Committee because of the interference into the investigation against Phahlane.
Sesoko claims Phahlane has been approaching witnesses who have made statements in the case against him.
He says the acting National Police Commissioner approached witnesses to make statements which are different from those they have previously made to Ipid.
On the other hand, Phahlane has claimed that Ipid is captured by the complainant in the case, private investigator Paul O'Sullivan.
We are certainly not captured by Paul O'Sullivan.— Matthew Sesoko,Ipid head of investigations
Out of 67 statements that were obtained so far, only three of those had Paul's involvement. That's can never be capturing.— Matthew Sesoko,Ipid head of investigations
