How to protect your computers from viruses, worms and more

A possible new wave of cyber threats may be looming. This, after the group that leaked US hacking tools used to launch the global WannaCry “ransomware” attack, warned it would release more malicious code.

The cyber extortion campaign, which has infected more than 300 000 computers since Friday has apparently eased.

Azania Mosaka spoke to Craig Rosewarne, Managing director at Wolfpack Information Risk, about various hacker tools and how companies can protect computers from viruses, exploits, worms and more.

It wasn't a virus, it was a vulnerability in outdated software that people had not patched.

I have been given stats, anywhere from 6%, of the global outbreak of Wannacry. It relates back to South Africa so it is quite a big number if you look at it from that perspective.
