Gupta-linked Trillian invoiced Eskom R419m without formal contract - amaBhungane

AmaBhungane Centre for Investigative Journalism has revealed more details about how the Gupta-linked financial advisory group, Trillian Capital Partners, allegedly received a multi-million rand payout from Eskom without any formal contract in place.

Public Enterprises Minister Lynne Brown appears to have misled Parliament last year about the nature and extent of the working relationship between the power utility and Trillian.

AmaBhungane has established that when Brown said this in Parliament, Trillian had already invoiced Eskom for R266 million and another R153 million within days of her statement.

During a period of nine months last year, Trillian invoiced Eskom for R419 million. Of course Brown had said it has no contract in place with Trillian.

Gia Nicolaides, EWN reporter

Trillian said it won't go and disclose details of any contracts it has with the power utility. But it did say it only bids for work that's being done.
