CPF member resigns after Courtney Pieters murder

Imraan Mukaddam, deputy chairperson of the Elsies River Community Police Forum (CPF) says the Courtney Pieters case is a perfect example of how the police have failed communities.

Mukaddam announced his resignation on Tuesday in the wake of the fallout over the murder of three-year-old Courtney Pieters.

He says the constitution of the CPF and the relationship they have with the police should be looked at, saying that CPF is not suppose to be co-opted as part of the police.

One of the reasons I resigned is that I am bound by this allegiance with the partnership that I have with the police that I cannot rectify the police without breaking the trust relationship.
