Meet a Dreamworks Animation head honcho and YES he is South African

CapeTalk spoke to South African living in the US, Damon O'Beirne, who is now head of Layout at Dreamworks Animation.

O'Beirne explained how he tried getting into the industry and got rejected a few times before getting an opportunity to work for Amblimation, the animation production arm of Steven Spielberg's Amblin Entertainment in London.

O'Beirne graduated from Technikon Natal, now known as Durban University of Technology, with a Masters degree in illustration.

Damon has been living in the US for 22 years and has been with Dreamworks ever since. He worked on 17 productions and supervised 10 of them.

He is known for his work on Madagascar (2005), Kung Fu Panda 2 (2011) and The Prince of Egypt (1998)
