Zuma's resignation in the interest of SA and ANC, says Cronin

The SA Communist Party (SACP) says it's important for ANC leaders and supporters to show solidarity with the movement against state capture.

SACP's Jeremy Cronin argues that President Jacob Zuma's resignation will make it easier to root out the looting of public resources.

A lot of responsibility rests with the leadership of the ANC.

It's very important that the widest array of ANC [supporters] link up and don't stand outside.

According to Cronin, the ANC's national executive committee (NEC) must insist on calling for Zuma to step down, in the interests of the country and party itself.

He has warned that the concerns facing South Africa should not be captured for political agendas.

Cronin claims that external forces have the potential to misdirect the determination to remove systemic corruption, Zuma and the influence of the controversial Gupta family.

Clearly, one can't get to the root of the problems without the resignation of President Zuma.

The SACP hosted an Imbizo at the weekend, renewing calls for an urgent appointment of an independent judicial commission of inquiry into state capture.

The ANC’s alliance partner says the gathering aimed to come up with solutions to get the country and the governing party out of a crisis.

Cronin spoke about the morality of the ruling party, hypocritical opposition parties, the expected vote of no confidence against Zuma in Parliament and the way forward if he was hypothetically voted out.
