Technobyte: Microsoft makes a move into Africa

The first thing you will notice when you pick up a Samsung Galaxy S8 is the display. It is magnificent.

The engineering that pushes the screen to curve around the edges in what Samsung call an Infinity Display gives one the impression that you are holding something futuristic.

You get a sense you are holding a premium device in your hands. The S8 is very security focused and Samsung has added your iris and face to the biometrics for unlocking your phone. The new S8 also comes with Bixby, Samsung’s personal assistant that recognises voice and text. The 12 MP camera takes rich photographs and video and takes very impressive images.

The S8 and the S8 plus are very impressive devices. There is no doubt that the Samsung S8 is a contender for phone of the year. A beautiful device with a premium price tag.

Uber started with the simple idea of pressing a button and getting a ride.

Six years and more than two billion trips later, we’ve grown into the largest global ridesharing network and branched into new businesses like UberEATS and Uber for Business.

Now, Uber is bringing that magic to one of the most important industries in the country: trucking. Uber Freight is an app that matches trucking companies with loads to haul. We take the guesswork out of finding and booking freight, which is often the most stressful part of a driver’s day.

What used to take several hours and multiple phone calls can now be achieved with the touch of a button.
