Cosatu deliberates on whether Zuma should ever speak at future events

The Congress of South African Trade Unions (Cosatu) held a special Central Executive (CEC) Committee meeting on Monday to decide whether President Jacob Zuma should be allowed to speak at its future events.

The trade union federation is expected to carry out an assessment of the May Day celebrations in Bloemfontein, which were cut short due to anti-Zuma protests.

Cosatu spokesperson Sizwe Pamla told EWN's Stephen Grootes that members will have to deliberate on whether Zuma can ever address another Cosatu event, considering their call for him to step down.

They've got to discuss the fall out of the May Day rally, but the real decision is whether Zuma cannot address Cosatu events again, as long as he is President.

The meeting is also expected to discuss Zuma's insistence on staying in office despite nationwide calls for him to step down.
