Voting is currently underway in Nquthu, northern KwaZulu-Natal, in a by-election that saw senior party leaders from the DA, ANC, IFP and EFF campaigning.
EWN reporter Ziyanda Ngcobo reports that IEC members say voting has been going relatively well since the morning. They have about 700 IEC staff members overseeing the process in Nquthu.
The IEC had said they are anticipating more people to come out in the afternoon.— Ziyanda Ngcobo, EWN reporter
So far about 3% of the 81 000 people came out to vote - that is about 2500 people
The only concern raised is that some political parties who have been campaigning at some voting stations but it seems that issue has been resolved.— Ziyanda Ngcobo, EWN reporter
Ngcobo says it is very tricky at this moment to gauge how the voting process would go.
