Stop playing politics when dealing with transformation in agriculture - Zokwana

Agriculture Minister Senzeni Zokwana says opposition parties should put politics aside when dealing with transformation in the agricultural sector.

If we can all partner and agree that the transformation of the sector is imperative and that growth can only be achieved as well as stability, we need to agree to manage it.

I always believe that it is far much better when commercial farmers and those who need to transform do it willingly or participate in the process.

Some political parties even blame the government for natural disasters, as if the government has deliberately caused the disaster, says Zokwana.

He says the ANC understands very well the role of commercial agriculture which is to produce food.

Opposition parties want to play with agricultural issues as if it's a political arena and I don't think farmers should be embroiling themselves in that...

Zokwana spoke about the drought problem in the Western Cape saying as a sector they need to put aside which party runs the province so that agriculture can still function without problems.
